Ghibli Director Isao Takahata Working on New Film
Studio Ghibli president Toshio Suzuki has announced on NTV’s Getsuyoru! (Monday Night!) late-night variety television special on June 4 that director Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies, Only Yesterday) is working on a new film. Takahata’s last directorial feature was 1999’s My Neighbors the Yamadas, a comic-strip-based film that Walt Disney Home Entertainment released in North America. Suzuki explained that Takahata takes a long time between films because there are few animators who can realize his ideas. Source: Ghibli World
